Begin 2015 / by Ken Frink

Years ago I mounted some drawings on plywood and finished them with polyurethane. This was a poor choice, the finish yellowed them almost instantly. For whatever reason I have not been able to part with these, though I would never want to hang them on a wall. Last week, I took them from the shelf and began carving. Using the drawing as a guide I am cutting reductive block prints. Maybe the prints will turn out, maybe not. Either way, I win. I learn something, I clear some space, I get a fresh impression from a stagnant block of wood. If the year continues like this, it will be good.
